Effective Date: 12 June 2025
1. Definitions
In these Terms and Conditions, the following terms have the meanings set out below:
- "Business" / "We" / "Us" — Waktu Mutiara, operating from No. 9, Jalan Wong Ah Fook, 80000 Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia.
- "Client" / "You" — any individual who enquires about, requests, or receives watch repair services from Waktu Mutiara.
- "Services" — watch repair, restoration, and related services offered by Waktu Mutiara, including complete movement overhauls, water-resistance restoration, and dial and case restoration.
- "Watch" / "Item" — any timepiece submitted to Waktu Mutiara for assessment or service.
- "Agreement" — these Terms and Conditions as accepted by the Client.
2. Acceptance of Terms
By submitting a watch for assessment or service, or by requesting a service quotation from Waktu Mutiara, you indicate that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and Conditions.
You confirm that you are at least 18 years of age and have the legal capacity to enter into this Agreement. You also confirm that you are the rightful owner of any watch submitted to us, or have the authority to submit it on behalf of the owner.
3. Service Description
Waktu Mutiara provides hand-worked watch repair services in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. Services are available to clients in Malaysia and by appointment for clients from outside the region.
Services currently offered include: Complete Service Overhaul (RM 240), Water-Resistance Restoration (RM 288), and Dial & Case Restoration (RM 326). All prices are quoted in Malaysian Ringgit and inclusive of applicable service costs as described at the time of quotation.
We reserve the right to decline to service a particular watch if, in our assessment, the required work falls outside our current capabilities or if the watch is in a condition that makes service inadvisable.
4. Service Terms
Quotation and authorisation: A quotation is provided before any work begins. Work proceeds only upon your explicit agreement. If additional work becomes necessary during the service, we will contact you before proceeding.
Timelines: Estimated completion times are provided at intake. These are estimates, not fixed commitments. We will communicate promptly if anything affects the expected timeline.
Collection: Watches should be collected within 30 days of notification that service is complete. We will make reasonable efforts to contact you. After 60 days without collection, a storage fee may apply.
Restoration scope: For dial and case restoration, the scope of work is agreed in advance. We will not carry out work beyond what has been explicitly authorised.
5. Payment Terms
Payment is due in full upon collection of your watch. We accept cash and common electronic payment methods. We do not require a deposit for standard services unless otherwise agreed.
Prices are as quoted at the time of agreement. Any additional costs arising from unforeseen work are communicated and agreed before being carried out.
Refunds: If you change your mind after work has begun, we may charge for the work completed to that point. If service cannot be completed to our standard through fault on our part, an appropriate adjustment will be made.
6. Client Responsibilities
You are responsible for providing accurate information about the watch and its condition when submitting it for service. If you are aware of known issues beyond what is visible, please inform us at intake.
You confirm that you are submitting a watch that you own or have authority to submit. We accept no liability arising from disputed ownership of a watch submitted to us.
7. Intellectual Property
All content on this website — including text, design, and images — is the property of Waktu Mutiara or used with permission. It may not be reproduced, republished, or redistributed without prior written consent.
8. Disclaimers
Watch repair is a skilled craft that involves inherent uncertainty. We carry out all services with care and to the best of our ability. However, we cannot warrant specific outcomes — for example, that an aged movement will perform to factory specifications after overhaul, or that all cosmetic marks will be removed during case refinishing.
Information on this website is provided for general reference purposes and does not constitute professional horological advice for your specific situation.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by Malaysian law, Waktu Mutiara's liability for any claim arising from our services is limited to the amount paid for the specific service giving rise to the claim.
We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental losses, including loss of use of a watch during service. We are not liable for pre-existing conditions in a watch that may be exacerbated by service work, provided we have acted with reasonable care.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded under applicable Malaysian law.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Waktu Mutiara from any claims, losses, or costs arising from your breach of these terms or from inaccurate information you have provided regarding the watch or its ownership.
11. Termination
You may withdraw from a service agreement at any time before work begins without cost. After work has begun, you may withdraw, but we may charge for work completed to that point.
We may decline to proceed with or complete a service if, in our professional judgement, doing so would risk damage to the watch or is otherwise inadvisable. In such cases, we will explain our reasons and return the watch to you.
12. Dispute Resolution & Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Any dispute arising from or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Johor, Malaysia.
We encourage resolution of any concerns informally in the first instance. Please contact us at [email protected] and we will make every reasonable effort to address your concern promptly.
Clients may also refer disputes to the Tribunal for Consumer Claims Malaysia (Tribunal Tuntutan Pengguna Malaysia) for eligible consumer disputes.
13. General Provisions
These Terms and Conditions, together with any written quotation or service agreement provided to you, constitute the entire agreement between you and Waktu Mutiara in respect of the services described.
If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force. Any failure to enforce a right under these terms does not constitute a waiver of that right.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The date shown at the top of this page reflects when the terms were last changed. By continuing to use our services after an update, you accept the revised terms.
